In addition to officially hiring Katie VanConant as superintendent, the Sanilac Intermediate School District Board of Education approved posting her former position at Monday’s meeting.
Though VanConant began her career in the school district as a teacher in 2008, she has been serving as the Special Education Principal since 2022, and will be transitioning into her new role in December. She was picked for the new role via unanimous vote during the October 9 special meeting, which saw VanConant and Unionville-Sebewaing Schools Superintendent Josh Hahn being interviewed for a second time.
In addition to approving the hiring, the board also approved the County District Calendar for 2025-2026, and heard the first reading of a few updated board policies. No action was needed by the board,as this was the first reading of said policies.
The board will meet again for their regular meeting on Monday, November 18, at 5:30 p.m. at the Sanilac Career Center in Peck.
