A two-vehicle crash in Lamotte Township saw at least one person taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon, according to Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies.
Central Dispatch received a call shortly before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, reporting an accident at the intersection of Sanilac and Germania Roads in Lamotte Township. Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies, the Lamotte Township Fire Department, Marlette EMS and Sanilac EMS were dispatched to the scene.
Initial investigation determined that a southbound 2017 Ford Flex, driven by a 62-year-old Port Huron woman, failed to yield the right-of-way of a eastbound 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck. The driver of the 2005 Chevrolet, a 43-year-old Ohio man, attempted to avoid the collision but could not.
The Port Huron woman was checked for injuries at the scene, while the Ohio driver was uninjured in the crash. Additional occupants in the Ford Flex were also checked at the scene for injuries, with a front-seat passenger, a 61-year-old Port Huron man, being transported from the scene to McLaren Port Huron Hospital by Marlette EMS for further treatment.
Alcohol and/ or drugs were not factors in the crash and the occupants of the vehicles were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
