Cass City driver and passengers injured during Tuesday evening two-vehicle collision at M-46/M-24 intersection

accident-2

A two-vehicle injury crash yesterday evening at M-24/M-46 saw a driver trapped and two passengers injured, according to Michigan State Police.
Caro Troopers were dispatched to the scene around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, finding a 2004 Dodge Dakota and a 2019 Ford Expedition involved. Investigation found that the Dodge’s driver, a 54-year-old from Cass City, was headed south on M-24 when he disregarded a red light and hit the Ford as it traveled east through the M-46 intersection.
The collision caused the Dodge’s driver to become trapped, with Caro and Mayville Fire Departments using the Jaws of Life to free him. He was airlifted for out of area treatment, while two of his passengers were also injured and also taken to an out-of-area hospital by MMR for treatment.
The Ford’s driver, a 52-year-old from Bay City, and their passenger were not injured in the crash.  State Troopers were assisted by Caro Fire, Mayville Fire, Mayville EMS, and MMR.
