The Sanilac Drug Task Force, along with all local law enforcement agencies, turned over to the DEA Drug Take Back Initiative 289.6 lbs. of unused, expired medications leading up to the 2024 Fall Drug Take Back date on October 26th.

The amounts collected from each drop location in Sanilac County included: The Sheriff’s Office 64.8 lbs., Croswell PD 131.8 lbs. Marlette PD 43.6 lbs., Lexington PD 28 lbs., and Deckerville PD 21.4 lbs. The higher numbers in Croswell were partly due to a disposal of medications for a pharmacy.

The Drop locations are available for disposal of medications all year and a pickup of medications can be arranged by calling the Drug Task Force at 810-648-4580.

All medications collected are turned over to the D.E.A. (Drug Enforcement Agency) for safe destruction; generally by incineration.
