A 62-year-old Deckerville man is cooperating with investigators after striking a pedestrian while driving just before midnight on Tuesday, November 5th. St. Clair County Central Dispatch received reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 4800 block of 24th Avenue in Fort Gratiot Township, with sheriff deputies dispatched. Also dispatched to the scene was the Fort Gratiot Fire Department and Tri-Hospital EMS. Upon arrival at the scene, the still-unidentified man was found in the roadway and pronounced deceased, with 24th Avenue being closed for crash investigation. Preliminary findings report that the unidentified man was walking north in the right-hand travel lane when he was struck by a northbound 2013 Chevrolet Silverado being driven by a Deckerville man. The man is cooperating with investigators, remaining on the scene following the incident. At this time, excessive speed, alcohol and/or drug use do not appear to be factors.
