Two 19-year-olds from Cass City were injured last Wednesday evening after the driver attempted to avoid a deer and instead drove into a ditch.
Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a call shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, reporting a single vehicle rollover crash on Bay City-Forestville Road, near Van Dyke Road, in Greenleaf Township. Deputies were dispatched with the Cass City Fire Department and Cass City MMR.
Initial investigation found that a 2004 Chevrolet Blazer was being driven west by a 19-year-old woman from Cass City when she attempted to avoid a deer. However, by doing so, she ran off the roadway and into the east ditch, traveling through the ditch before overturning onto its roof.
The driver and her passenger, a 19-year-old Cass City man, were treated on the scene before transport to Hills and Dale Hospital for further treatment.
Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash.This accident remains under investigation by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.
