Port Huron Police warns community of recent email scam

scam

The Port Huron Police are alerting the community of a recent email scam.

A resident received an email from an entity posing as the “Port Huron Revenue Department,” claiming they owed over $3,000 to the City and were delinquent. Before the resident could reach out to verify the authenticity of the message, they received a follow-up email stating, “Thank you for your payment of $250.00, your balance is now $750.00.”

It’s important to note that the resident had not made any payments or clicked on any links in these emails.

The department makes it clear that the City of Port Huron Treasury Department will never email you to request payments. If you receive any email like this, it is a scam. Please do not click any links, do not send any payment, and delete the email immediately. Stay vigilant and help spread the word to protect our community.

If you have questions or need to report suspicious emails, please contact the Port Huron Police directly at 810-984-9715.
