The Aspire Marlette Regional Hospital Tree of Shining Love (TSL) is the culmination of the Christmas season of giving for our area.

To many of us, it is fitting to pause at this time of year and reflect on the blessings we have shared with loved ones and friends. We use the TSL tradition to honor individuals who have made a significant impact in our personal lives and in our Thumb area communities. We pay tribute while at the same time raising funds to improve our services and facilities, having a positive impact on thousands of lives throughout the year. This is what the Tree of Shining Love (TSL) Ceremony has come to mean for individuals and our community: a time to hold up a loved one to shine for the community while making investments in the ongoing health and well-being of those in this community.

On December 8th of this year, 176 family members and friends were honored and remembered in a heartwarming ceremony at The Heartlands Community Center in Marlette. We were also privileged to honor the work of Sue Cook and the many volunteers of the Caring Hearts Health Clinic (CHHC). They gave of themselves tirelessly for 14 years, and touched many lives through their work, providing healthcare to those who were in great need.

As a special tribute, all 176 names will be read on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day on Sanilac Broadcasting, 97.7 WTGV/FM at 7:05 p.m. In addition, this will be shared on our Facebook page along with the video presentation of the 36th Annual Tree of Shining Love, and recognition to our generous and faithful sponsors. Follow Aspire Rural Health System on Facebook for these additions.

We would like to sincerely thank the supporters of the 36th Annual Tree of Shining Love Event. We are grateful to Sue Cook and the many volunteers of the Caring Hearts Health Clinic, our honorees this year. We are also grateful to our Community Relations Committee members, to those who participated in the TSL ceremony with music, prayer, and the many hands that work to make this event a success.

Together, with our generous and faithful donors and sponsors, we raised nearly $20,000 for the Hyperbaric Chamber Project at Aspire MRH. We are closing the gap on the funds needed to launch this much needed service in our community and surrounding areas that we serve. We thank you!
