With two new council members sworn in, the Sandusky City Council will be looking to tackle problems in the new year, starting with illegally parked cars in the alley of the Lexington Street parking lot.
Writing to City Manager Dave Faber on December 27, 2024, a local business owner explained that, behind their business, people are illegally parking “wherever their vehicles can fit” in the alley beside the Lexington Street parking lot. The business owner also noted that these illegal parkers often block the alley or speed through it, “mak[ing] life harder for others who work and live there.”
Despite the Sandusky Police Department ticketing the offenders, the business owner alleges that these parking tickets are tossed aside and not taken seriously.
It is unclear what can be done by the city to fix the issue, as parking enforcement doesn’t seem to be a deterrent. The council will discuss the issue at their meeting on Monday, January 6, at 5:30 p.m. at the Sandusky City Hall.
