Sandusky City Council to approve traffic control order, “no parking” signs for Lexington Street Lot alley

sandusky-2-2-2

After sending the issue to the ordinance committee last meeting, the Sandusky City Council is again looking into solutions for illegal parking in the alley of the Lexington Street parking lot at their upcoming meeting Monday.

With a traffic control order considered but put off at first for the sake of further discussion, according to the council’s agenda, the council hopes to approve a traffic control order at the January 20th meeting.

Further discussion between the ordinance committee, City Manager Dave Faber and Mint restaurant owner Traci Sisson on January 9th concluded with the committee agreeing that parking should not be allowed in the alley. The committee cited safety concerns and concerns about damage to the green space and access for emergency vehicles and snow removal.

While the parking resolution will see signs warning of no parking and that violators will be towed, it is unclear how the council will address concerns about limited and unsafe parking at and near the Lexington Street lot.

The council also plans to reappoint Linda Schramm to the Sandusky District Library Board at the Monday meeting.
