A Sanilac County man has been arrested after a raid of his home uncovered child sexually abusive material and activity. 29-year-old Anthony Preston Caulkins of Peck was arraigned January 31, 2025 in 73A District Court.
The Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted an investigation that resulted in the seizure of digital evidence from Caulkins’ home. Authorities say the investigation started after it came to their attention that he was sharing files of sexually abusive material on the internet.
Caulkins has been charged with four counts of sexually abusive activity–aggravated distributing, four counts child sexually abusive material–aggravated possession, and eight counts of using a computer to commit a crime. Caulkins stood mute during his arraignment last Friday, and a plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf by the court. He’s currently lodged in the Sanilac County Jail on a $50,000 cash or surety bond, with a probable conference set for February 11th at 10:00 a.m.
Michigan State Police were assisted by the Bad Axe and Peck police departments at the scene of the arrest.
