A Thursday morning accident between two vehicles in Sanilac Township sent one driver to the hospital, according to the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.
Shortly before 7:20 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a report of a two-vehicle injury accident on South Lakeshore Road near Applegate Road in Sanilac Township. Deputies, along with the Port Sanilac Fire Department and Sanilac EMS, were dispatched to the scene.
The initial investigation determined that an eastbound 2019 GMC Acadia, driven by a 39-year-old Applegate woman, was traveling east on Applegate Rd and stopped at the signed intersection with Lakeshore Rd. The driver then attempted to turn south onto Lakeshore Rd but was unable to gain traction, causing the vehicle to slide into the northbound lane. A northbound 2021 Jeep Cherokee, being driven by a 54-year-old woman from East China, was unable to avoid a collision with the Arcadia.
The driver of the Jeep was transported by Sanilac EMS to Port Huron McLaren for treatment. The driver of the Acadia and her two minor passengers were treated for their injuries on scene and released.
Alcohol and or drugs were not a factor in the crash and the occupants of the vehicle were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
