
The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a single car accident that occurred last night just after 8:00pm and resulted in a fatality.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the area of Hessen Road in Columbus Township after the crash was reported. The preliminary investigation shows that a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, occupied by a single person, was southbound on Hessen Road when it lost control and proceeded off the roadway. The vehicle continued where it is believed that it overturned before coming to rest in a farm field.
The driver of the vehicle suffered serious injury as a result of the accident. They were pronounced deceased on scene. Hessen Road was shut down for several hours during the investigation.
The St. Clair County Accident Investigation Team is continuing the investigation. Alcohol and Drugs are not believed to be a factor.
