
A teenager was seriously injured in a two vehicle crash in Casco Township on Saturday night.
St. Clair County Central Dispatch received reports of an accident just before 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 5. The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, Richmond Police, Richmond / Lenox EMS and the Richmond Fire Department responded to the scene at the intersection of Gratiot Avenue and Division Road in Casco Township. Additional information was relayed that the driver of an involved vehicle was entrapped due to crash damage.
The initial scene investigation concluded that a 17-year old Richmond girl was eastbound on Division Road in a 2016 Jeep Cherokee when she failed to yield to a southbound 2009 Ford F150 and was struck in the driver’s door. The driver of the Jeep sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to McLaren Macomb hospital.
The driver of the Ford, a 32-year old Lenox woman, as well as two passengers, a 39-year old man and a 2-year old girl, were uninjured and signed off with EMS on scene.
The incident is being investigated by the St. Clair County Crash Investigation Team. Alcohol, drugs and excessive speed are not believed to be factors at this time.
