The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office has announced two arrests in the case of three-year-old Matthew Maison, a Port Huron Township boy whose death seven years ago was determined to be a homicide.

On Friday, April 11, 2025, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Detectives brought a man and woman into custody in relation to the death of Matthew Maison, with the arrests coming after significant recent developments.

On Monday, April 14, 2025, 33-year-old Amanda Maison and 28-year-old Maurice Houle were arraigned in 72nd District Court on the charge of First Degree Murder. Bond was denied for both individuals.

The case began February 18, 2018, when the child was found unresponsive in bed by babysitters. Several interviews by neighbors and others indicated possible mistreatment and neglect happening to the child for some time before the tragic event.

However, there had been no arrests made up until last Friday’s announcement.
