Governor Whitmer orders state and U.S. flags lowered to half staff in honor of Pope Francis

Governor Gretchen Whitmer, in accordance with a proclamation issued by President Trump, has ordered U.S. and Michigan flags in the State Capitol Complex and all public buildings and grounds to be lowered to half-staff immediately to honor and remember Pope Francis. Flags should be returned to full staff on the day of Pope Francis’ interment, which takes place on Sunday, April 27th. The governor’s office encourages Michigan residents, businesses, schools, local governments and other organizations to display the flag at half-staff from now until April 27th.
