Mayville pedestrian injured after Sunday evening accident

A Tuscola County pedestrian was hospitalized yesterday after being hit by a car in Fremont Township.

The Michigan State Police Caro Post reports that troopers were dispatched to the area of Snover and Conrad Roads in Fremont Township shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, due to a reported crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Preliminary investigation found that a 31-year-old Mayville man had been walking west on Snover Road when he attempted to cross the road but was instead struck by a westbound car. The Mayville man suffered substantial injuries from the crash, being transported by ambulance to an out of area hospital for treatment.

The involved vehicle, a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer, was driven by a 73-year-old Mayville woman. She was not injured.

The incident remains under investigation. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. Troopers were assisted on scene by MMR, Mayville EMS, and Mayville Fire.
