(AREA) — A Croswell-Lexington graduate’s efforts to make it to the summer Olympics in Rio was cut short Thursday. Star runner and Michigan State graduate Leah O’Connor finished 14th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase during the track and field trials in Oregon. The top 3 runners advanced with O’Connor in the second spot entering the final round last Thursday. Through social media, O’Connor thanked friends and family for their support and mentioned her foot injury that she has been battling over the last several weeks. Leah graduated from Cros-Lex High School in 2010.
