Lexington man killed in motorcycle crash

(AREA) — Reports say a Lexington man was killed when his motorcycle was struck from behind in a crash Saturday in Chesterfield Township. Authorities say the victim, 69-year old James Weir, was stopped at a red light on his Harley Davidson motorcycle on Gratiot at 22 Mile when the bike was struck by a car. The impact threw Weir into the vehicle ahead of him. The driver of the car that caused the collision was a 43-year old New Haven woman. Weir was able to give his account of the crash to police at the scene. He was transported to McLaren Macomb Hospital where he later passed away during surgery. No one else was injured in the crash. Police say neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
