(TUSCOLA COUNTY) — This year’s Breakfast on the Farm event will be held at Zwerk and Sons Farm, 7647 W. Sanilac Road in Vassar on Saturday August 13. The annual event is a unique learning experience that enables residents of all ages to meet the producers of their food. Zwerk and Sons Farm is a family run farm co-owned by cousins Dave Rupprecht, Jeff Schluckbier and Marty Zwerk. There are 12 full-time employees, who are mostly family or close family friends. They farm 7,500 acres of corn, sugar beets, dry beans and wheat. A few years ago, Zwerk and Sons became a Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program verified farm. The free event will run from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. with breakfast served until Noon. There will also be harvesting and planting equipment on display with demonstrations on the technology the farm uses for custom planting and spraying. Visitors will get a chance to see farm animals, as well.
Breakfast on the Farm is free, but tickets are required to eat breakfast. Free tickets are available at the following businesses:
