(WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP) — Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to the scene of a single vehicle rollover accident in Sanilac County’s Washington Township around noon Sunday. Deputies report that 81-year-old Shirley Rich from Sandusky was traveling west on Washington Road when she lost control of her vehicle, entered the ditch on the south side of the road, and overturned. Rich was trapped inside the vehicle and was then freed by Carsonville Fire Department’s Jaws of Life. She was taken by Sanilac EMS to McKenzie Health System for treatment of injuries. Police say Rich was wearing her seat belt and alcohol is not a factor in the crash. The accident remains under investigation by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.
