Sanilac County Sheriff Garry Biniecki and Lt. Nick Romzek were welcomed by Representative Paul Muxlow in Lansing on Thursday.
Testimony was given on Senate Bill 2-18 in the House Appropriations Committee. The Senate Bill would provide state-funded Health Insurance benefits to the spouse and children of local public safety officers killed in the line of duty. The bill will benefit all local fire, EMS, Corrections, and Police Officers statewide. The bill will now move on to the House floor for a vote by the full House of Representatives.
Sheriff Biniecki thanks the area fire chiefs, EMS Directors, and Police Chiefs who called or wrote letters in support of the bill.
