(GREENWOOD TWP) — St. Clair County Sheriff’s deputies say a 17-year old Avoca teen was killed in a single vehicle accident Monday afternoon. Authorities were sent to the scene on Bricker Road, just south of Wilkes Road in St. Clair County’s Greenwood Township shortly after 3:30 p.m. An investigation found that a Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by an 18-year old Yale woman went over an old railroad crossing, lost control and rolled over. The 17-year old passenger was transported by Tri-Hospital EMS to McLaren Port Huron Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle suffered serious injuries and was also transported to McLaren Port Huron. Her condition is not known at this time. Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
