(PORT HURON) — An investigation into the sales of heroin in the Port Huron area resulted in the arrests of two people Tuesday afternoon. Officers from the St. Clair County Drug Task Force observed two suspects they had been investigating inside a vehicle in the area of 10th Street and Bancroft Street around 5:00 Tuesday afternoon. A fully marked K-9 Unit patrol car attempted to make a traffic stop, but the suspects took off. A short chase ensued, during which the officers observed the suspects throwing items out the window. The car was finally stopped on 14th Street at Griswold. A 33-year old Detroit man and a 45-year old Port Huron woman were arrested without incident. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of analog drugs, fraudulent prescriptions, cell phones, cash and packaging materials. Additionally, about $8,000 worth of heroin was located along the chase route. The suspects face charges including possession of heroin with intent to deliver, prescription fraud, destruction of evidence, and fleeing and eluding police.
