9-1-1 Dispatch Center move nears

(Sandusky) – Work continues with the moving of the Sanilac County 9-1-1 dispatch center from its present location on N. Elk St. to their new home on Dawson St. 9-1-1 Director Dawn Cubitt brought a number of issues before the Sanialc County Board of Commissioners Tuesday afternoon to update them on the project and seeking their financial approval on budgeted items.
Cubitt explained radio equipment grounding work has been on-going and is nearing completion. Cost of the project is expected to be $3,245. She said a new fiber optic line for use with sheriff department radios needs to be installed at a cost of $3,500 and another $6,000 would be needed to make the move to Dawson Street. Cubitt told Commissioners, “this is high tech, emergency dispatch equipment that we have to have a vendor come in and do the work. It’s not something we can do ourselves.” She estimated moving the equipment, which is still a few weeks away, would take two days to complete.
