(Lynn Township) – St. Clair County sheriff deputies responded to a location in Lynn Township Tuesday night, taking into custody a 40-year old man with a shotgun. According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, deputies received a report of a suicidal man with a gun at a residence on Capac Road, north of Turner Road shortly before 9:30.
Deputies approached the home and observed the man holding a shotgun outside of the residence. Donnellon said the man was ordered to drop the gun, Instead, the suspect turned the weapon toward the deputies who then fired shots, but did not hit the suspect. He dropped the gun and was taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect is currently lodged in the St. Clair County Intervention and Detention Center and is expected to face charges including felonious assault and possession of a firearm while intoxicated. Per department policy, the two deputies involved in firing the shots have been placed on administrative leave, pending the completion of the investigation.
