(Port Hope) – Acting on tips from citizens, Huron County sheriff deputies served search warrants at two separate locations late Wednesday and early Thursday. According to Sheriff Kelly Hanson, deputies responded to the first location, on Second Street, around 10:30 p.m. Authorities seized an unspecified amount of marijuana and a 2008 Chevrolet pickup. Deputies arrested a 34 yard old man on felony possession charges with intent to deliver. He was lodged in the county jail and later posted the $5,000 bond and was released.
The second search warrant took deputies to a home on School St. around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, resulting in additional seizure of marijuana. A 24 year old man was placed under arrest and also posted the $5,000 bond and was released. He is facing charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. Hanson said all together, five pounds of marijuana, some of it being processed medical marijuana, was seized with a street value of $250 an ounce. The Harbor Beach police department assisted deputies in executing the search warrants. After formal charges were filed by the Huron County Prosecutor’s Office, the suspects were expected to be arraigned late Thursday.
