Motorcycle – deer collide in Fremont Township

(Fremont Township) – Two motorcyclists escaped serious injury Sunday night after colliding with a deer. The Sanilac County Sheriff Department received a 9-1-1 call around 8:30 p.m. regarding the accident near the intersection of Galbraith line and Kilgore Road in Fremont Township. Sgt. Paul Rich said a 2001 Harley Davidson driven by 60-year old Robert Rezler, of Standish, was westbound on Galbraith Line when a deer ran out in front of him. The motorcycle struck the deer and left the roadway, overturning in the south side of the ditch. Both Rezler and his passenger, 54-year old Victoria Miner, of Midland, were transported to McKenzie Hospital by Croswell EMS for treatment of their injuries. Both were wearing helmets at the time of the incident, according to Sgt. Rich and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Croswell EMS, Croswell Fire and Thumb Towing.
