Improvements at Sandusky Airport considered

(Sandusky) – Sandusky city councilman Nort Schramm reported to council Monday night that the Sandusky Aeronautics Board had met and discussed the addition of new hangers at the city owned airport. He told council, “A lot of planes are on a waiting list to come to our airport and some of them want heated hangers.” Schramm went on to explain the board is considering several options, but had little interest in a request from a private individual to construct a hanger at the airport. The proposed plan, “would take up too much space at the airport,” according to Schramm. There is considerations being given to constructing new hangers west of the newest ones that were recently constructed with funding possibly being made available from Rural Development. Airport representatives will be meeting with the Sanilac County Board of Commissioners on November 15th to discuss options regarding safe air space within a 10 mile radius of the airport. The restrictions, if approved, would impact future wind turbine projects and any large grain system auger legs that might be built in the area.
