(Buel Township) – Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies investigated a fatal accident just before 8am Saturday. The mishap occurred at the intersection of East Peck Road and Cribbins Road in Buel Township. A vehicle driven by 75 year old Paul Grafmiller of Chesterfield was traveling west on Peck Road, when he attempted to avoid rear-ending a vehicle that was stopped and waiting to turn south onto Cribbins Road. Grafmiller lost control of the truck, and his vehicle slid across the intersection into the south side of the ditch coming to rest on the passenger side. He was thrown from the truck through the passenger side front window and landed in the ditch, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say Grafmiler was not wearing his seatbelt. No one else was involved in the accident which is still under investigation.
