A two-alarm house fire kept area firefighters busy late Friday afternoon and left an Elmer Township family with considerable smoke and water damage to their two-story home, just before Christmas.
Moore Township and Sandusky fire departments responded to the call around 3:30 p.m. and found smoke billowing out windows of the home on Juhl Road. Firemen were on scene of over an hour, extinguishing a blaze in the basement before flames could spread to the rest of the home.
Family members were able to escape the fire without injury and were assisted by family members in finding shelter for the holidays.
