Winner named in exercise contest

Eight-year-old Hanna Moran was a very active young lady, and it paid off for her, winning the grand prize of a trip for four to Zehnder’s Splash Village in Frankenmuth. Turning screen time into more exercise and good times, a recent PlaySmart pilot program at McKenzie Health System’s Croswell Clinic focused on helping the next generation make healthy choices. Funded by a grant from the Great Start Collaborative in Sanilac County, the program encouraged kids ages 6 to 8 to exchange a video game for a piece of sports equipment. Participants were invited to wear an activity tracker and monitor their daily movement.
All kids were welcomed to special kids’ fitness classes at Thumb Elite Athletics and encouraged to eat healthy, increase their activity and make smart choices.
