Brown City working on blight; junk cars

Brown City Police Chief Ron Smith said his department continues to work with the city on blight issues. The city has mailed out ten blight notices and eight junk car letters as police work to improve the city’s image. Smith said, according to city ordinance, cars must be registered, repaired or removed by February 2nd to avoid being fined. Blight has to be addressed by February 20th. Fines for failure to comply begin at $50 per day.
In other police news, Smith said longtime police officer Adam Stracenrider was hired by the Port Huron Police Department. His last day in Brown City was January 19th.
Smith said he is looking into a replacement, and will utilize part-time officers in the meantime.
