Tuscola County officials have confirmed Cass City is one of three sites being consideration for a new, proposed cheese and whey production facility. Cass City and county officials are working together to do everything possible to bring the business to Tuscola County. Dairy Farmers of America, Michigan Milk Producers, Foremost Farms USA and Glanbia have announced they intend to build somewhere in Central Michigan. Cass City is currently home to a 33,000 square foot dairy facility operated by Dairy Farmers of America and original plans called for a possible expansion at a later date.
The joint venture by the four firms is intended to be a stand alone dairy processing plant where more then eight million pounds of milk would be needed daily.
