(Marysville) – A 22-year-old Marysville man is facing multiple charges after allegedly shooting at three people Sunday. Quill Aaron-Wesley Pettway was arraigned Monday afternoon on two charges of assault with intent to murder, felony firearms, discharging a weapon in or at a building with serious injury, discharging a firearm in or at a building and felonious assault. His bond was set at $1 million. According to media reports, officers responded to a shooting on New York Ave., just after 3 a.m. on Sunday.
The man allegedly shot a 22-year-old St. Clair man who was in critical condition yesterday, but is now stable, and a 27-year-old Marysville man who suffered minor injuries. A building manager was also shot at, but not hit.
Police are still investigating the cause of the shooting. As Pettway fired rounds outside, Marysville Police pulled up, officials said. Pettway threw down his pistol under police orders and was taken into custody without incident.
It was found that Pettway emptied his pistol of bullets, but had another full clip in his pocket. He was not licensed to carry a weapon.
During the arraignment, the St. Clair County Assistant Prosecutor said Pettway had been drinking earlier that evening and had a pistol with him. When Pettway was told to leave, he shot three rounds into the apartment door. Police said the suspect shot the 22-year-old in the stomach and the 27-year-old in the arm.
Pettway then went down to the apartment manager and allegedly pointed the gun directly at the manager who was standing five to 10 feet away, after she said she was going to call police. Pettway walked outside and fired multiple rounds into the air, police said. He later fired the gun back in her direction. Authorities said all of the events were recorded on surveillance.
Both victims were transported by ambulance to Lake Huron Medical Center.
Pettway has a probable cause hearing April 18 and a preliminary exam April 25.
