(Marlette) – School is out, warm weather is here and for folks near Marlette, that means one thing. The city pool will be open for business Monday June 12th and remain open for the summer months.
City Manager Cory Schmidt said lifeguards have been hired and the pool is ready to go. The pool will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. during the week and from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends.
“We’ve got the pool ready, we have hired back some great kids to be lifeguards for us and we are ready for the pool to be open,” Schmidt said. “Besides paying the admission fees, we do offer family passes for the summer, if that makes it more convenient for families.”
The $2 dollar admission fee also includes the Splash Pad. Swim lessons will be given at the pool, beginning June 19th. Each session is two weeks long and costs $35.
In other Marlette news, the city council will be holding a public hearing June 19th to finalize the 2017-2018 budget.
City Manager Cory Schmidt said he has been taking a close look and it appears Marlette will be in good financial shape, while maintaining a fund equity of over $400,000.
Schmidt said he is estimating General Fund revenues of just over $923,000 with expenditures of more than $940,000.
The deficit will be up up through fund equity with no cuts to city services.
