A motorcycle – deer accident early Sunday morning in Lapeer County claimed the life of a 61-year old Lum man. Sheriff deputies responded to Burnsline Road near Slattery Road in North Branch Township around 2 a.m. after a passerby reported the motorcyclist lying in the roadway. According to deputies, Douglas Secord was driving his Harley Davidson west on Burnside Road when he struck a deer. Secord, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the bike and was pronounced dead at the scene. Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies closed the roadway for several hours to investigate. Alcohol is being investigated as a possible factor in the accident.
