Fire departments from eight communities are battling a fire north of Imlay City

(Lapeer County) – Firefighters from eight departments spent a good share of Tuesday morning battling a fire in the area of M-53 and Clear Lake Road. Brown City Fire Chief Keith Redlin said a large mulch pile was burning.
Sanilac County Emergency Management Director Todd Hillman said eight departments were on the scene including Brown City, Marlette and Speaker, from Sanilac County.
Others were Mussey Township from St. Clair County along with North Branch, Goodland, Arcadia and Imlay City fire departments from Lapeer County.
According to Hillman, Brown City was called to the fire around 7 a.m. There was no word on the cause of the fire or what else, if anything, was burning. Chief Redlin said more details would be available after the fire was contained.
