(Sanilac County) – Five applicants have been selected from a field of 25 candidates for the Sanilac County Administrator’s job, following action taken Tuesday afternoon by County Commissioners.
At their special meeting, commissioners announced three names while two others remain confidential, until they are contacted for interviews next week.
Making the cut was Troy Feltman, a former Administrator in St. Clair County, current Lapeer County Finance Director Craig Horton, Tara Griffith who currently works for the Sanilac County Healthy Department and two unidentified candidates.
The board will meet in special session November 8th to conduct interviews beginning at 9 a.m. Current Administrator/Controller Kathy Dorman is retiring at the end of the year.
In other County news – The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners has taken the advice of a mediator and are recommending acceptance of a settlement in the civil lawsuit case between former county sheriff department employee James Wagestar and Sheriff Garry Biniecki.
Wagestar lost in a race for Sheriff to Biniecki and filed suit for alleged comments made during the campaign.
While the county has accepted the recommendation, Wagestar and his attorney will now consider whether they accept the settlement offer, or if the case proceeds through the legal system.
