(Kenockee Township, St. Clair County) – One person was killed and five others injured in a head-on crash in Kenockee Township Sunday evening.
According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, deputies were called to the scene of a crash in the 8900 block of Lapeer Road shortly after 7:00 p.m. When they arrived, they observed a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan and a 1988 Chevrolet regular cab pickup, both with extensive front end damage.
Members of the Kenockee Township Fire and Rescue and Tri-Hospital EMS were also on scene and had removed several victims from the vehicles for transport to area hospitals.
A 47 year old Brockway Township woman, who was a passenger in the truck, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup, a 45 year old man from Brockway was taken to a Detroit area hospital, along with three other passengers in the truck, a 3 year old boy, a 2 year old boy and a 1 year old girl.
The driver of the mini-van, a 53 year old Port Huron man, was transported to a Port Huron hospital and later transferred.
The road at the time of the crash was snow covered, with blowing snow across it. Deputies continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
