The Croswell-Lexington school board met in a late night session Monday evening to put to rest an on-going legal matter. The board met at 8:30 p.m. to discuss the district’s lawsuit against their former legal counsel, Thrun Law Firm P. in executive session, then returned to the open meeting. After a five-week negotiation in an attempt to settle the lawsuit and avoid a court trial, the board voted 7-0 to accept a settlement, receiving $260,000. The district, who spent around $800,000 in severance pay to two former administrators, has piled up legal fees in excess of $85,000, according to officials.
