Three Sandusky High School students have been named local winners in the 49th annual America and Me Essay Contest. Martin Tovar earned first place honors while Cara Blashill was second and Kirstyn Hawkins third. Tovar’s entry is now moved on to State competition where the top ten entries will be selected with winners being awarded a plaque, medal and $1,000 cash prize. The contest, sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance, has thousands of eighth grade students enterd from more than 350 Michigan schools. The winners will be announced in April.
