Testing for contaminants of the nearly three-acre site for the new Imlay City fire hall have been completed with no serious results discovered. Imlay City officials are now able to proceed with the project that includes asbestos testing of an existing building, prior to demolition. City commission members approved spending around $2,000 dollars for that testing, before moving forward with the construction, believe to cost around $1.75 million dollars. The commission is considering whether or not to issue general obligation limited tax bonds to pay for the project.
