Brown City officials have submitted required paperwork to Lansing for the Maple Valley Road renovation project. City Manager Clint Holmes reports estimated costs are in line with the original budgeted $200,000. Holmes said he was informed an additional requirement of guardrails to be installed adjacent to a culvert on Maple Valley Road. The planned construction detour is Wilcox Road, Lincoln Street and M90. Following a meeting later this week, the work is expected to be let for bid and work schedule announced.
In other council news: Brown City School Superintendent Neil Kohler has asked to meet with School Board Members and the City to discuss continuing school closures resulting from the potential for sewer backups. City and DPW officials plan to meet at the school on Thursday to discuss the issue. The Spicer Group engineers will help determine what alternatives, if any, are available and any potential costs.
