Port Huron Water Shows Increase in Lead Readings

Port Huron’s annual Drinking Water Quality Report shows an increase in lead from 1.4 parts per billion in 2016 to 7 parts per billion in 2017. However, city officials say that doesn’t mean lead levels in the city’s drinking water have increased, or that there is lead in the city’s drinking water, rather it’s because of a change in testing procedures. The city also supplies water to the townships of Port Huron, Fort Gratiot, Kimball and Clyde, serving about 60,000 total customers. Total system storage capacity is 8,250,000 gallons.
