A 13-year-old girl was injured Friday morning around 9:15 am after rolling her ATV while attempting to turn into a driveway of Harneck Road near Holverson Road in Sanilac County’s Sanilac Township. According to Sanilac County Sheriff Deputies, the girl had slid sideways on the gravel road and when her tires caught the edge of the blacktop driveway the ATV rolled, pinning her underneath.
A 13-year-old boy who was riding behind the girl and two other local residents could not get the heavy ATV off the girl. The boy then contacted 9-1-1 while the two others tried to keep weight off the girl so she could breathe. The girl was transported to McKenzie Health System for treatment of her injuries. Both ATV riders were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
