(ELK TOWNSHIP) – Early Monday morning, Sanilac Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from a resident in the 6500 block of Paldi Road regarding a family dispute involving a male subject that had just been stabbed at that residence by his Mother-in-law.
Deputies responded to the residence shortly after midnight Monday and were advised that the male victim was being transported to Marlette Regional Hospital by private vehicle for treatment.
It was determined through the initial investigation that the victim’s 19-year-old daughter provided life-saving first aid by applying pressure to the stab wound.
Sheriff’s Deputies secured the scene and contacted Sheriff’s Detectives who responded to the scene and Marlette Hospital to interview the victim and witnesses.
The victim was later transported to a Saginaw area Hospital for further treatment.
According to Det./Sgt. Nate Smith, the victim’s 61-year-old Mother-in-law of Peck, was arrested at the scene and the weapon was recovered without further incident.
Charges for Assault with Intent to Murder are being requested on the suspect and she is lodged in the Sanilac County jail with no cash bond.
The incident remains under investigation and the suspect’s name is being withheld pending arraignment.
