Authorities search for missing 44-year old

Police have found the body of a 44-year-old Tuscola County man, three days after his vehicle was located submerged in a water-filled ditch near Unionville last week. According to authorities, the man’s body was located in a swampy area about a quarter mile from where his car ended up in the ditch along Thomas Road in Tuscola County’s Akron Township sometime early Friday.

The car was located on Friday in a ditch that flows into Saginaw Bay. A diver and K-9 teams searched the area over the weekend, but couldn’t find the man.The Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office, along with Michigan State Police, searched the area over the weekend while divers from Huron, Sanilac, and Tuscola counties also assisted with the search.

Investigators resumed the search on Monday and discovered the man’s body.

 
(TUSCOLA COUNTY) – Authorities continue to attempt to locate a 44-year old owner of a vehicle found submerged in a ditch near the Fish Point area in Tuscola County.
On Friday, a caller reported seeing a vehicle submerged in a ditch near Unionville.
Police investigation shows the vehicle probably entered the water after midnight Friday, setting off an extensive search by rescue teams. on the 6th.
A wrecker removed the vehicle with rescue personnel doing an immediate search for the body.
Additional searches were performed by K-9 teams from Tuscola County and the Michigan State Police. Over the weekend, divers from Huron, Sanilac and Tuscola County worked the area, still with no results.
Search efforts were scheduled to begin again Monday morning, at daybreak.
