Michigan Farm Bureau seeking relief

Michigan Farm Bureau officials say their members are among the thousands scrambling to survive during the Coronavirus and are faced with the possibility of losing money and crops while the pandemic drags on. Farm Bureau officials at the state level have submitted a letter to State officials asking them to reconsider allowing greenhouses to open. Growers who rely heavily on the business say they stand to lost an entire year’s worth of profits if they are not allowed to open. Meanwhile, as they prepare to begin spring planting, farmers are keeping an eye on grain market futures as prices continue to plummet. Likewise, Dairy farmers across the region are facing the possibility of dumping milk, due to the glut of the product already on the market.
