(SANILAC COUNTY) – There was some good news coming from the weekly tele-conference Monday afternoon for Sanilac County.
Michelle McDonald of the Health Department said there were no new cases to report from over the weekend, leaving the county with 23 confirmed cases, including two deaths.
The zoom phone interview was held with local media members who interviewed McDonald, Todd Hillman, Emergency Management Director, Bryant Wilke, Health Department Director and Will Morris from Sanilac County Mental Health.
McDonald said there are not as many tests waiting for results as last week while hundreds from the county have tested negative. Wilke said he is guardedly optimistic, although wary of neighboring counties with much higher numbers including Lapeer who is over 100 confirmed.
Hillman said county hospitals are reporting no shortages of supplies and he is still waiting shipment of his requests for N-95 masks, surgical masks, face shields and hand sanitizer.
Wilke concluded the half hour session saying Bad Axe will have a drive through testing site this week and individuals must have symptoms, or a doctor’s order, to be tested and is encouraging everyone to continue to do their part and practice social distancing.
